My fascination with old things....

doesn't just include sewing machines it seems. I had sitting in my closet my Grannie's old GE iron. It didn't work right so why I held on to it all these years I don't know.......but I did. Today I got to wondering why if we can rehab vintage machines we can't rehab vintage irons? Guess what? You can! And here's the proof. This is my Grannie's iron. I tore it completely apart today, cleaned it and sanded some rust off the pieces inside and put it back together. It now works beautifully!  So now I have a nice heavy iron that is perfect for quilting. It presses seams so good. The best part? I remember my Grannie everytime I use it!
Don't you just love that shine?
